Uganda
November-December

It was good to be back in my old country again, I do miss the people as well as the birds.
We had a team of 5, Richard and Graeme plus Roly and Natasha and my super trainee Ambrose.

We started of as always in the magic garden in a suburb near Kampala, where I have caught and ringed 13 different species of sunbird!

We visited Budongo Forest, a site Ive been ringing for 10 years, and where we conducted a workshop for some 20 guides. Then Murchison Falls National Park and Kibale National Park at Sunbird Hill. The latter, a new and exciting venue for eco tourism and one ive been ringing at for 8 years now.

It was a huge success, we managed 402 birds of 97 species, including 9 raptors (Western Banded Snake-eagle, Grey Kestrel, Long-crested Eagle, Dark-chanting Goshawk, Steppe Buzzard, Shikra and Lizard Buzzard).

Red-winged Grey Warbler

Red-throated Bee-eater, one of a good catch of  30.
